Doreen Kiewel

 Doreen Kiewel joined the Army on February 28, 1991. She attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, in Military Occupational Speciality 71L, Administrative Specialist. 


She served in the 227th Maintenance Battalion in Korea from 1991-92 and was promoted to Private First Class. In 1992, she advanced to Specialist (E4) at HHC, Division, Fort Carson, Colorado. She also served at HHC, 3/81st Armor Regiment, Fort Knox, Kentucky, from 1993 to 1996. In her six years in the Army, she served in many roles: Awards Clerk, Finance Clerk, Mail Clerk, Records Clerk, Receptionist, and the Battalion Commander's driver.

Doreen Kiewel earned the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Army Achievement, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Army Overseas Service Ribbon.
 
Doreen Kiewel joined the VFW in 2016. She has served in numerous positions, from the Post to the National Level, with several recognitions. She has served as Post Trustee, Post Membership Chairman, Post 3128 Sr.Vice Commander (2023-2025), District 2 Staff Judge Advocate, District Senior Vice Commander, District 2 Commander (2024-2025), State Sergeant of Arms, State Programs Chairman, and State Membership Chairman. She also was appointed to three national committees. She was selected for the National Aide-de-Camp recruiting class (2022-2024), earned the #1 recruiter award for the Department of Alabama (2022-2024), and was selected National Aide-de-Camp to the VFW Commander-in-Chief (2023-2024). She is a founding member of the Alabama VFW Military Order of Cootie pup tent.
